Qualcuno diceva che a pensare male si fa peccato ma molte volte ci si azzecca.
Ripple non ha nulla a che vedere con le cripto e non sono in pochi a considerarlo un asset digitale privo di originalita’, interesse, scopo.
Era ed e’ sempre stato un vero e proprio strumento finanziario e ci si chiede come mai la SEC solo dopo 7 anni si sveglia e decide di attaccare Ripple.
Cosa e’ accaduto?
Per farla breve:
– Il 17 dicembre 2020 COINBASE, uno dei primi e piu’ noti (ma anche criticati) exchange di criptovalute, annuncia la sua intenzione di avviare una IPO e quotarsi cosi’ a Wall Street. Ad ottobre la valutazione di Coinbase era di circa 8 miliardi di dollari ma con l’impennata di Bitcoin a fine 2020 la valutazione e’ certamente cresciuta. Per maggiori info qui
– 22 dicembre 2020, la SEC annuncia di avere avviato una azione legale nei confronti di Ripple Labs Inc. e due dei suoi amministratori (l’ex CEO Christian Larsen e l’attuale CEO Bradley Garlinghous) per avere raccolto 1,3 miliardi di dollari grazie alla vendita di Ripple, senza rispettare le norme sulla vendita di strumenti finanziari. – Il 25 dicembre 2020 (Santo Natale) Bitstamp, altro importante exchange di cripto, annuncia la rimozione di Ripple dalla lista delle monete digitali acquistabili tramite l’exchange. Vedi qui
– Ieri 28 dicembre 2020 Coinbase annuncia che procedera’ alla rimozione di Ripple dall’elenco delle monete digitali acquistabili tramite l’exchange a decorrere dal 19 gennaio 2021. Vedi qui
– In meno di un’ora dall’annuncio di Coinbase il prezzo di Ripple e’ sceso del 16% e se continua cosi’ rischia di andare rapidamente a 0.
Cosa ci insegna questa bella storiella?
1. Gran parte delle sedicenti criptovalute in circolazione sono clamorose e inutili truffe. Alcune di queste non sono neppure vere e proprie cripto e il loro valore puo’ essere azzerato in pochi secondi. E’ sufficente un atto di citazione della SEC e non serve attendere la condanna per vederne distrutto il valore.
2. La SEC e’ spesso lenta (a parte il curioso caso Telegram) ma inesorabile. E piu’ tardi interviene, piu’ disastroso sara’ l’impatto con la realta’.
3. Tentare di raccogliere denaro vendendo criptovalute o sedicenti criptoasset, senza passare dall’autorita’ competente e fare i compiti a casa, pensando di fare la rivoluzione solo perche’ avete messo sede in qualche staterello esotico, non vi mette al riparo dagli organi regolatori dei paesi nei quali venderete il vostro magic token.
4. La SEC non potra’ mai fare nulla nei confronti di Bitcoin. Non ha una sede, un founder reperibile, un CEO, un citofono, una partita IVA, un legale.
